I claim responsibility for The Bernie being a good luck mojo

You might remember in 2011, the Grand Prairie AirHogs won the World championship of the Independent League based solely on my telling all the AirHogs to do The Bernie. Heck, even Buddy Craig, the groundskeeper then, got in to the act.

I got the idea from a cool video I had seen, and the rest is history.

Back in late August, the Oakland Athletics invited actor Terry Kiser best known for his role as Bernie Lomax in the classic 1980′s comedy movie franchise, “Weekend at Bernie’s” to throw out the first pitch as the A’s faced the Boston Red Sox.

Kiser was invited because of a trend started by Oakland Athletics players doing a dance move better known as “The Bernie ” to celebrate big plays. The “Bernie” movement started when pitcher Jerry Blevins started playing in the clubhouse a 2010 rap song called, “Moving Like Berney” written by a rapper called ISA.

However, another popular Bernie song called “The Bernie Lean” written by rappers ATM and IMD became Oakland’s calling card and last week, the below music video was produced featuring the rap duo along with Athletics outfielder Coco Crisp doing that “Bernie Lean”:

I’m so glad Oakland decided to try my Mojo, but as punishment..The A’s will lose to my Rangers soon enough!
