Tigers Rookie Hazing Includes Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Costumes [PHOTOS]

The Detroit Tigers won yesterday afternoon, went up 1.5 games in the A.L. Central and promptly hazed rookies before the team took off for its final weekend series against the Twins. That’s Avisail Garcia and Bryan Villarreal in Dallas Cowboys cheerleader costumes. Those look like new purses. Good look, boys.

It gets worse, though, as one rookie is in a ridiculous tight workout outfit.

Some of you may remember the guy who took these photos? Jon Hunton used to pitch for the Grand Prairie AirHogs. I hope he got called up to the Show!

Adrian Beltre: Eric Gagne should have named names in PED accusation

Eric Gagne recently wrote an autobiography, and on Wednesday we found out that it contains at least one bombshell piece of information. In the book, “Game Over: The Story of Gagne,” the former closer calls most of his former Dodgers teammates cheatersby estimating that a whopping 80 percent of them used human growth hormone.

One of his former teammates, Adrian Beltre, wishes Gagne had been more specific.

“He should have named names,” Beltre said Thursday according to the Dallas Morning News. “I don’t know what you want me to tell you … For him to say something like that, he should have come out with names instead of a percentage.”

Beltre and Gagne were teammates from 1999-2004. The 2004 season was by far Beltre’s most productive offensively. He hit 48 homers and drove in 121 runs that season. He has belted 35 homers this year — the second-highest total of his career — and has never driven in more than 105 runs in a season aside from 2004.

Based on the numbers Beltre had when he played with Gagne, he would probably be a lock for the 80 percent who used performance-enhancing drugs for people who believe Gagne’s theory. If he truly did not use steroids during those seasons, you can understand why Beltre would be upset that Gagne didn’t name names. Unless you think Gagne is full of it, Beltre 2004 numbers make him a prime suspect.

Jerry Jones drops in on ‘The League’

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has a surprisingly long IMDB profile. Jones has made appearances on “Arli$$,” two iterations of “Dallas,” and “Entourage.” He was even a project consultant on the eyeball-popping football movie “Any Given Sunday.”

But all of those previous performances were just to prepare him for his role on “The League,” the FX show about some guys who are really, really, reallllly into their fantasy football league. Check out the exclusive clip from the Oct. 11 season premiere.

If that’s not nominated for an Emmy, the whole system is invalid.

You knew that NFL fans would be happy to see the real NFL officials back on the field after three weeks of replacement ref-induced silliness, but the response given to referee Gene Steratore and his seven-man crew as they entered Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium for Thursday night’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns was exceptional, to say the least.
Steratore got a standing ovation from the crowd when he went through his microphone check, and his crew could not conceal their glee as they walked around the field as if they were extras in a production of “Spartacus.” Steratore got manly hugs from Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and linebacker Ray Lewis as the game was about to start. And when Steratore called his first penalty of the season, an illegal contact call on Browns defensive back Sheldon Brown on the 10th play of the game, he was wearing a cake-eating grin.

It’s clear that the real refs were happier than anyone about the eight-year collective bargaining agreement that the NFL and NFL Referees’ Association hammered out late Wednesday night.
